Women’s Health Care
– To be yourself in your whole life –
One aspect of women’s health is that life stages of women are determined by biology, that is, female hormone regulates women’s health. Estrogen, one of female hormones, is the key component in producing female characteristics, such as menstruation, characteristic female body feature, as well as in pregnancy to give birth to new life, which is a unique ability to women. Not only on reproductive system, female hormone also influences onthe health of breast, skin, bone, central nervous system, circulatory system, and immune system. With the change of estrogen, female experiences life stages – adolescence (puberty), reproductive period, menopausal period, and post-menopausal period. Either during or with transition of life stages, different health issues could arise due to natural hormonal changes and/or hormonal imbalances.
Another aspect regarding women’s health is that a variety of factors affects your health status, sometimes making health issues more complicated. Such factors could be any of your life events; a study or work in highly demanding circumstances, promotion and increasing responsibility in the society, maintaining friendship, marriage, pregnancy and delivery, raising children, caring parents, and more. You can normally go through with such life events smoothly and enjoy them because homeostasis, which is a function by the body to maintain itself in balance, works to deal with stressors properly. However, once the burden from stressors far exceeds your body’s capacity of homeostasis or keeps affecting you for longer period, your body’s system starts losing a balance. For example, female hormonal system and adrenal regulatory system is very delicate and easily gets disturbed in prolonged stressful circumstances, leading conditions such as hormonal imbalance and adrenal exhaustion, which may makes you underfunctioning in daily activities. In addition, unhealthy eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, environmental factors (eg. air and water pollutions, heavy metal contamination, electromagnetic devises) can put more burdens to your body and mind.
We understand that each has a unique physiological, psychological, and social factors as well as spirituality. This is why we plan a customized treatment plan for each individual.

Based on your need for your health care, the focus of treatment will be varied some focus on symptom alleviation and removing the cause, others focus on the health promotion and prevention of disease. The following is the list of example of health issues and health care needs commonly seen in women’s care, but not limited to these:
Your health status determines your baby’s health. With pregnancy, women’s body experiences dramatic physiological changes to grow the fetus. Thus, it is of an importance to adjust your nutrition and lifestyle and to manage your psychological aspects enough to maintain in a good condition for both of you and fetus. After delivery, your whole body has another huge change to nurse a newborn. During this period some women may have issues in re-adjusting their hormonal system into the original (i.e. non-pregnant) status – underactive thyroid and postnatal depression as examples. At Wei’s Nature health clinic, various combinations of therapies are available to support your healthy pregnancy and labour as well as in nursing period. Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) isa very common issue (at le-natal/ast one third of female experiences it) but requires a careful attention because dysmenorrhea could be a sign of serious health issues such as fibroid and endometriosis. With the intensity of menstrual pain over years combined with the increase in the amount of flow, earlier check-up and assessment is strongly recommended. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) involves a variety of physical, mental, and behavioral symptoms which occurs/worsens during the two weeks a period starts (known as luteal phase of the cycle).
Irregular menstruation may also a sign of something not in balance in your body although it occurs as part of normal physiological changes in perimenopausal women. Nutritional imbalance and stressful circumstances often relate to irregular menstruation but not limited to those factors.
Menopausal issues: Hot flashes, night sweats, sleep pattern changes, irritability or emotional changes, loss of lipido, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, skin changes, weight gain — all of these are most common complains during menopause. These are closely related to normal physiological change in female hormonal system during this period, but at the time, other external factors in daily life could also contribute in aggravating menopausal symptoms. In most cases, it is difficult to find which factors or habits are problem by self because they may have been part of your lifestyle for long time. Menopausal symptoms are unpleasant, but it is also a good opportunity to review your lifestyle and to start caring your body to optimize your health status. Earlier intervention can also be risk reduction of common issues in later stage of life, such as osteoporosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and other cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
Breast lumps can occur from different reasons from cyclic hormonal changes to benign breast tumors (non-cancerous type) to invasive breast tumor (cancerous type). Invasive type is the one you have to pay attention, particularly if your first degree family (mother, sisters) has a history of breast cancer because the genetic factor is also related to this condition (If such case, it is recommended to do self-breast check at home monthly as well as regular medical check in order to find any abnormal lumpy structure at early stage). With holistic approach at Wei’s nature health clinic, we also work on the improvement of the factors that may relate to your breast condition, such as dietary, lifestyle and environmental factors.
Prevention: You can start prevention of hormonal imbalance, breast health, osteoporosis, CVD and so on anytime. Preventative care is strongly recommended if you have known risk factors. We will help you to find out whether you have a risk of which type of health conditions in the future and will assist you how to improve your future health.
